Other Classifieds Rules & Information. A must read for all who post in the classifieds

Here is some information and the Rules for Using the Classifieds Section

*A template has been provided for buying and/or selling in the classifieds section. Please use this template as it is there to assist everybody. Failure to use the template will result in your ad being removed. Exceptions can be made if the seller is listing a large amount.

*All posts made are to be relevant to the sale or request. All posts considered to be off topic will be removed.

*Any item that is not aquarium related will be deleted.

*Do not post a reply to an advert simply to state that you feel that the price is too high. If you find that an advertised item is overpriced please respect the seller and leave the thread alone. Any such replies will be removed. If you wish to try and negotiate with the seller, please do so via pm. Do not however berate or harrass the seller.

*If it is felt by the admin team that any one member is abusing the buy/sell forums or flaming any sellers, we reserve the right to stop that member from being able to view any posts or threads within these forums.

*The selling of Wild Caught Species of Loricariidae that are on the banned from export list is not permitted on this site. Please refer to this thread to find out what fish are on the list Banned from Export List.

*EOI posts are for people who have fish coming up for sale in the near future and want to find out if anybody wants them, or alternately they have fish they are considering to sell. This is not for conducting any kind of auction silently or otherwise. Admin team reserves the right to close or delete any EOI post at anytime if it feels it isnt being used correctly.

Photos
While this is not a requirement at this stage, it is however quite helpful. It stops unecessary pm's and posts requesting to see a photo. There is also a risk for members who are not yet knowledgeable enough to correctly ID the species and run the risk of being scammed into buying a cheaper fish for the higher prices. Please keep in mind Australia is quite a large country and the majority of fish being brought are freighted interstate making it impossible for most buyers to see a fish in person before entering into a deal.

Shipping Fish
Please state in your thread if you are willing to consider shipping your fish to the purchaser. It is common practice to ship fish to a buyer interstate, however if you are not experienced in doing so it can be a daunting task. Feedback posts
We have a program called itrader on this site. It is like the feedback on ebay. All feedback is to be left using this system and all posts in the original thread will be deleted. This is because we can not allow positive feedback posts without also allowing negative feedback posts. If you have an issue with a sale done here on PlecoPlanet then please use the Buy/Sell Disputes Forum. Instructions on how to use the itrader can be found here iTrader FAQ


Commercial sellers are permitted but a yearly fee will apply and will need approval from admin team before commencing posts.

Someone asked: does the fish have to be in the possession or owned by the seller at the time of advertising? I couldn't really find an answer for it.

Common sense would say not necessarily, as long as the person advertising the fish is upfront about it.

exactly.
people can advertise fish they will be getting for sure, after all, thats what importers/ exporters/ whlesalers do.
its unusual though for regular hobbyists to do so, but not unheard of, you may have someone picking up 15 or so of a particular plec and only wanting/ having room for 6, so would make sense for them to find a buyer before they collect, if you see what i mean

Hey guys im a real noob to the pleco scene could any one plese tell me what EOI stands for I've tried to look it up on the site but cant find an explanation sorry for the stupid question.

Expression of Intrest mate

What expressions of interest mean is either someone has no idea what their L's are worth in current market value and want to sell for a reasonable offered price, or some use it like an auction telling buyers they've had a higher offer can you top it. Be wary of the latter ones.

Or are hoping someone is stupid enough to unknowingly make a huge offer.

Sometimes its used purely to gauge if there is enough interest in the fish to decide if you're going to sell or keep them for a bit longer.
Its not against the rules so I can't see an issue with it.
Its a free world. No one is making you read these EOI ads nor forcing you to purchase the fish :dk:

I would prefer an auction based thred rather than EOI, unfortunatly here in aus EOI is the closest thing i can find, as there is no auctions.

If you are thinking of buying or selling and have a question for example "What is the average sell price of L104?" then this forum is the place to post it.

There should also be a rule to prevent sellers with excessively 'bump' their postings to keep it on the 'top' of the list. Maybe something like only once a week unless there is additional info to add to the posting. Violators would have their posting remove, repeat offenders would have posting privilege revoked...something like that.
