KH for breeding L134?

Hi,
I'm hoping to trigger my L134's into breeding soon. My kh seems to continuously drop to about 1-2.
I have aquamaster carbonate hardner. Is that suitable to add to the tab to raise the kh?
What should it be? I live in the southern beaches of sydney, Australia.
My ph is around 6.8. I was concerned it would be too high. I have seachem acid buffer & ph down. Would these be recommended?
Thanks a lot. I'm lost when it comes to water chemistry! :)

Hi,

The ph of my tap water is about 7.4.
The kh is 2. Currently I age my water overnight in a plastic drum with prime.
Thank you

well as long as ph is under 7 thats good. they like soft water so dont try and harden it.
tell us more about the set up. tanks size, temp, how many fish, any other fish with the L134, caves. wood etc. post pic of tank if poss. then we can all pitch in with any ideas that may help. they are very difficult plecs to breed. (for some!)

A Kh of 4 to 5 is best under 4 and it will have a dynamic PH over 5 and it will be to hard

Thank you. My tank is 70 litres with two pairs of L134's. It is filtered with an eheim 2217 canister so filtration is very good. The temp is 25.2.
There are two air stones in the tab & water movement is good.

The tab has numerous pieces of driftwood, rocks, coral rock & fake plants (the rocks are mainly hidden in the photo. There is also several slate caves including a double cave that faces opposite ways & other ceramic caves.
A couple of cherry shrimp are also in the tank.
I don't use the light unless cleaning & try to cover the tank with a black towel.

I feed hikari algae wafers & carnivore pellets, frozen blood worms & brine shrimp & shelled peas. I have tried zucchini & prawns but they looked untouched. I do daily water changes when possible. I use aquasonic pro-bac & have started using seachem stability.

Both of my pairs are young & havent bred before. Before winter I noticed both males were hairy & they would trap the fat females for days at a time however I believe if my water had been right I wouldve got eggs.

What products that I mentioned I have should I use or what products should I buy to get my water right?
From what I understand my ph could be a bit lower & kh higher. What can I add to ensure my water stays at the right levels?

Thank you all so much. Sorry if I'm annoying. I hope this helps others as well.
Regards, Nat

I just realized I had done a cool water change just before I took the photo haha. It's usually at 25.2 but will try 26.
Cheers, Nat
