August 8, 2010 I got 4 Zebra fry. First Zebras I've had in more than 15 years. Today when checking the tank I found 1 dead. Not sure why, nothing has changed in 2 years. Not beat up, bloated or starved. Looks in great shape which makes me worry about my water and the others. Sucks. Just needed to vent.

Heres a pic after I pulled him/her out.

That is really crap-as big bird said what are your tank details, water, maintenance etc to see if we can all help you solve the puzzle or at least put your mind at rest.
Kind wishes

Thanks.

15g with CaribSea's Peace River substrate, Eheim Pro II 2026, Eheim Aquaball, Emperor 280 and a 6" air stone. 6 caves, some slate, river rock and 1 piece of drift wood. Temp at 84-86. 20% weekly water changes. Same set up and routine for two and a half years now. Couldn't tell you my water details, I never test any of my tanks.

Tank also houses 3 Sterbai and 3 dwarf neon rainbows

do you gravel vac ? Can be a build up of solids etc in the gravel. Iwould really consider testing your water as well. If you do not wish to buy all of the testing stuff, most LFS will do a test for you. How often do you clean your Eheim , could be gunk build up as well. thks jk

Thanks

I vacuum about 1/4 the gravel every 2-3 weeks. The Eheim gets cleaned about every 4-6 months.

Was planning on taking some water into the lfs tonight if I get the time.

Don't think its any fault of your own il looks to be in great shap even though it's dead I'm sure as humans fish have genetic health issues that could of caused its death

Don't look into it too much as you won't find the problem
If the fish looked weak then you can look at the water or if it as beaten up the. Look at its tank mates too fat too skiny then you could look at what you feed it but all I can say is dory for your loss.
