i have 6xl270 and 5xl134 all about 12-18months old.
they are split into two sections, one breed each section of a 4 foot by 1.5x1,5foot tank. during the day i have sponge filter and undergravel filter running, i turn it off at night because i am sleeping in this room at the moment i'm doing renovations.
i feed them hikari sinking carniviore pellets and the odd algae wafer or zucchini.
it appears they are eating none of these. they were just put in this tank recently like two weeks ago, all the other fish have been fine since their transfers, just this tank is out.
ammonia is 0, ph 7.6 maximum, i try to keep it lower, mix of rainwater and tapwater.
any clues?

whats no3?
not new fish to me, about 2 months since i acquired them but just moved into the new tank 2 weeks ago.
No3 is nitrate, when this is high fish can become lethargic and can sometimes go off feeding...I assume the food you are giving is food they were previously eating?..Were they eating ok before the move?

You can find that fish will become very shy and reclusive when moved to a new home...I find they can take 2-3 weeks before they settle down into a good feeding pattern...If you find that all the water parameters are in acceptable areas, it may be down to the move and they will all return to normal soon.

Turning your filters off at night is going to cause you big problems. I would be really worried about this. Check your nitrite levels as you might be killing your filters by turning them off

And with the lowering of PH, It's more important to have a constant PH instead of trying to lower it. I've had L134's spawn at a PH of 7.8 so it's not too important to lower it. If you want to lower it and have a constant level then get a RO filter.

nitrate is at zero.
there's quite a lot of water for them as well which i hope helps. and i do at least 30% water changes weekly with a big gravel vac as well.
yes they used to eat the carnivore pellets quite well, i mean i never saw them but they were gone.
i cooked up a little bit of yabby tail (aussie freshwater crayfish) and put that in there last night and i dont think they touched it. ok i'll get my house back together and leave the filters on, hopefully the fish will adjust also.

with your filters off you maybe experiencing mini ammonia/nitrite spikes which will definitely put them off food.... and once filter is up and running again in the morning it quickly clears up any ammonia then you get that mini nitrite spike before its converted into nitrate.... dancing with danger turning filters off....

at least you've had no deaths.... one thing to be happy about1
