as above guys, had original plans of 8x2x2 but no space or budget:wb:
tanks been ordered just need ideas on filtration, low energy consumption prefered. thanks for looking

I would look at the Fluval FX 5...Masses of filter power that can still be aquired for half the price of Eheim...I am sure it runs on about 48 watts. Tetra tec ex2400 would be another...My first choice would be Ehein pro3 1200xl, does tanks 400-1200 ltr and runs on 25 watts... Its not cheap tho.

Not wishing to rubish any filters but Eheim have the edge on life span.
I still have some made in West germany

From my experience fx5 is a pile of crap. Constant issues with it and I've had to replace almost all of the bolts of the lid. Does not do a good job IMO. Overall I'm not happy with my purchase.

I would dish out the extra money and buy an Eheim. My favorite is the 2262. The things a beast and the filtration it provides is top notch. I'm not a fan of any of the pro series though. The classics are better IMO.

hi guys again thanks for all the info but eventually i went the massive ehiem! cost a bomb, just the media was the best part of a hundred quid!! but am happy with it, and once the money's spent you dont really miss it.
