TANK
Up for sale is my 8 x 2.5 x 2.5 tank, it is about 18 months old and has a custom built heavy duty steel stand.
It sits on 20mm structural form ply and 20mm unmarked foam
It is made out of 12mm glass and has 75mm bracing top and bottom and 10mm lids
1050mm from floor to base of tank and 1800mm in total height.
FILTER
It comes with a moving bed filter similar to a nexus and runs K1 media.
The water flows out of the tank into a large 200 micron filter sock, from there the water is circulated around the filter with the K1 then overflows out of that into a 5 foot partitioned and airated sump, from the sump it get pumped through a large sand filter filled with Zeolight back into the tank.
STAND
The top and bottom frames of the stand are made out of 75 x 50 x 5mm RHS and the uprights are made out of 50 x 50 x5mm
It has a ply backing on the stand that has been sikaflexed on and screwed but i put the backing on so i can put ends and doors on the front at my leasure
There is eonugh room to fit another 8x2x2 tank underneath if you want
PLUMBING
This tank has an extensive plumbing system to make maintanance extremely simple
There is a 40mm ball valve on the back of the tank to drain the water for water changes and a seperate inlet for fresh water to enter the tank.
From the sand filter the water enters an equalization chamber to give even presure to both inlets into the tank these also have inline taps in each line.
It also has a oulet on the bottom/back of the tank where the water is drained out that pulls water out of the bottom of the water column
The whole filtration system is fully adjustable so the water coming out of the tank and the water going into the tank flow rate can be changed, this is really handy if you have alot of particles floating around the tank.
The height of the water on the outlet strainers is fully adjustable to so if you have stuff floating on the top of the water you can skim that off easily.
The sump has an overflow outlet on it too
