One of my angels is silver most of the time but when he/she gets excited like at feeding time he/she gets dark black stripes. Is this a specific type of angelfish?
I have Geophagus, Crenicichla, Biotopoma and Apistogramma cichlids and all of them at some point or another show dark stripes. I believe its a form of communication IE stress, aggression etc.
I'm going to say it's stress coloration as well, however, for some cichlids it doesn't take much "stress" to make them color up or down or go stripey.
Is the angel acting different from the other fish in the tank? (possible illness)
Have you checked your water parameters lately?
How long has the fish been in this tank?
Is it competing for a mate?
Competing for dominance?
All of these can really mess with an angel's colors.
No, there is nothing wrong with it. I've had it for 2 years and it's always done it when feeding, right from a tiny baby. I was just curious, I don't see it as a problem to be fixed I was wondering if it was usual

It is common for this to happen with cichlids, I have seen many over the years that have this trait. I have even had an albino angel female that would get "ghost" bars (kind of a translucent goldy-brown)
