Anything unusual?

Are there any unusual items that you guys/gals use to help in your quest to be an outstanding fishkeeper?

I have syringes to dose meds and clean fry traps, also a tongue scraper to clean fry traps.

I don't know how unusual the thing I use is. I took the outlet parts from an Eheim that was extra and attached it to some extra hose I have and use it to syphon out dirt and what not from under the wood in my tanks. I also bought one of the wide jet attachments to get under the even smaller places. It's much better this way. I hated having to play around with the wood each time I did a cleaning which is about everyday.

I use an automotive window squeegie to clean the outside of my tank glass, and a salt shaker to feed granular foods.

I have a syringe for dosing water conditioner and meds too. Indulged in one of those planted tank gardening kits much to the amusement of my family.

Ever tried to buy the syringe without the needle part from the chemist? They think A. you are a druggie and B. why the heck don't you need the spikey bit? lol.

Toothbrush is my most used weapon of choice for cleaning in powerfilters and Windex glass wipes for cleaning the outside of the glass.

For removing gravel when shutting down a tank, you can't go past a plastic dustpan.

MIssed one, stainless steel skewer for unblocking spraybars and if you break the spindle on a rotor, cut the skewer and smooth both ends for a new spindle that won't rust or break.

Turkey baster for cleaning out fry traps and also grabbing eggs/newly hatched fry that get wafted out of caves

I use a plastic cat litter scoop to rake my sand ( new one of course ) great to seperate gravel from sand as well

T piece with tap on the outlet of all Eheim external filters to drain water.

Fine sieve to clean sand.

Assorted Eheim pipes and fittings to drain and fill tanks, buckets ECT.

Small LED Torch for checking under rocks bogwood ECT.

Plastic jugs for that quick grab a fish and were can I put it for 10 mins?

A box of dry towels for that spill that you think will be found by the wife. Also to cover a tank when fish have been moved and you can’t turn the lights in the fish house off or you have a fish in an open top container and it may jump.

Strong Drugs for numbing the wife,s nagging

Poly box and plastic bags in the car you never know when your spot that Zeb for under a fiver.

White paint pen to mark dates of spawning ECT on the tank.

Tobacco and papers for that quick fag after the stress of moving a tank full of fish.

Spare caves for the breeding group of L173,s that some one dumps on the doorstep.

Two of every item in the fish house for any critical failure of equipment.

magnifying Glass to check for any damage to a fish.
