hi, anyone tried this med for ich ? Ingredient is soluble copper salts. Using in half dose ,store recommended it as I had it on hand and needed to begin treatment asap. Still medicating almost 2 weeks. I know to continue to medicate for a week after last sign .

My question is , i have read that this med gets into wood ,so would I need to boil the wood after treatment is finished ?

thanks ,

I've used it. Never boiled the wood though I have heard the same.

2weeks? Still showing signs of ich? Did it go away and return or is the same fish showing signs continuously. If continuously without change it probably isn't ich. The lifecycle of ich has a period when it isn't on the fish and this is usually when its vulnerable to medications. 2 weeks should be more than enough time for the ich to go through a complete lifecycle.

hi Lorne, thanks for responding. Last time I saw anything ,it was 3 days ago in the gills of the rainbows. Lost 2 raspbora at different times, so had to find them, took eveything out , small gravel vac , had to add new water both times, and am treating the 54g as a 25g. So looks like I may be out of the woods now? , and heard to do a week extra to be sure . To answer your question , no , I never stopped treatment thinking it was over. 30 drops daily . Bottle says 12 drops per every 10g.

Do you think this is overkill ? Or is the lesser dosage making it take longer? Because I saw it in the gills of 2 dwarf rainbows 3 days ago, I need to continue, but not sure how long. Certainly don't want it coming back ,and stronger !

should I boil the wood as the farlo and L128 rasp on it,I know you said you don't, and you have had no probs with your plecs rasping on it ? thanks ,

Sorry kept forgeting to post.

Yes, you should treat for a period after you don't see the ich anymore. Yes also, that the reduced dosage is making it take longer. With ich, a strategy for removal is to elevate the temperature. This accomplishes 2 things: 1) ich can't withstand elevated temps (above what degree I can't remember) 2) it speeds up the lifecycle. Again, ich is only vulerable to meds at certain points in their life, usually when they are visible that's not one. If it seems to be working, just continue on.

If it makes you feel better you can boil the wood. L128 and farlo aren't equipped with teeth to actually rasp a considerable amount of wood, what they are really after is the biological fil on the surface of the wood. So, since they aren't actually ingesting the wood like a Panque might, the copper absorbed in the wood is less detrimental. If it's easy to boil the wood then better safe than sorry right.

hi again, Lorne, thanks for the tips and advice. I have had the temp up to 84d since the onset. 4 air stones , and dropped the water level. So since I have not seen anything in the gills for going on 5 days, I will continue to treat 1/2 dosage ,with last dose on Sunday. Then Monday will be gravel vac, add some carbon to the filters for a week, and yeah, think I would feel safer if i boil the wood . Hope this is a good plan , and if you think I should treat longer than Sunday, please let me know, otherwise I will assumes that is long enough.

I want so badly to do a vac/wc asap as the nitrates are getting up to 20, whereas they are usually 5 -10 max. However , i am concerned i will be diluting the meds ,so guess i will stretch it out till Monday. Still feeding, didnt want to cut their food and stress them more and they have been eating daily. Lights out all day, hope that is ok.

Many thanks ,esp your knowledge on Aquari-Sol !
