Aquarium Substrate - Silica Vs Play Sand?

Hi everyone, im wanting to put sand in my 6x2x2 tank as i`ll need a few bags it would be much cheeper to pop to B&Q and get childrens play sand instead of buying aquarium sand from the fish shop ive heard of people usuing play sand but before i go out and buy it do any of you have any negative points why i shouldnt buy it?

I've only ever used children's play sand and never had a problem

most people buy the play sand, you can get it from argos or early learning centre. no idea if B&Q sell it.

Its probably comes from the same place. Definitely cheaper from a hardware store.

They are doing it for £2.99 a bag in argos atm i think

Yeah i had a look before £2.99 for a 15kg bag im heading straight there at lunch to grab a few bags, does anyone know how many 15kg bags would be needed for a 6x2x2? Im guessing 4-5

Been and bought 4 bags its all i could carry at the time to get to the car, thats my thursday night all sorted now theres loads at argos at the moment by the pallet load in the store
