My platy popped out the goods tonight. :woohoo:
She has been getting pretty fat for a while now but wasn't sure because she had been like that before and I didn't see anything come out of it (they were probably all eaten before I knew about it).
Here's what she looked like yesterday
I was a bit late in discovering what she was doing. The first baby I saw was gobbled up in a split second. I have some rainbows in my tank and they were veeeerrry interested in her tonight. As soon as I saw that baby pop out I raced to find my floating breeding tank, scooped her up and put her safely inside.
By this time she already looked much thinner so I thought I was too late, but she had one while she was in there.
I then spotted another baby on the bottom of the tank hiding in the gravel, then another, and a couple more over about 10 - 15 minutes. Thank goodness I have dark and light gravel so they could blend! We eventually found a total of 5 babies in the tank, plus the one she had in there but unfortunately she ate one so I took her out of the breeder.
To make things even more complicated on short notice, a couple of the babies were squeezing out the side of the breeder so I had to catch them again and tie a stocking around the sides. lol. :fr:
Here's some pictures
Two you can't see in the above picture
I'll keep you all updated with pictures as they grow. Hopefully they all make it.
