ok,it is not my l128's , but happening in their tank , so wanna be sure I am doing the right thing here. Last week I lost a diamond tetra to cloudy eye/slight pop eye --treated 7 days with Melafix, still lost him a few days after last treatment. 2 days later I noticed white cotton in the gill of a dwarf rainbow , began treating immediately with Pimafix ,BUT first 2 days I forgot to remove the carbon I had put in the filter after the initial treatment. So now on 3rd day of treatment , not sure the dwarf rainbow looks like she'll make it. So I will continue to treat for the 7 days, even if she doesn't make it. What I want to know is what could be causing the problems and are they related ? I am worried the phantoms may get it. Do I have a ''nasty'' in the tank I need to treat differently. Hope someone can help before it gets my blue guys. Thanks

oh dear, its so hard when dont quite know what infection you are dealing with.
I find if need something thats more effective than the fixes and wont hurt eggs/young or filter, then I use ESHA2000

hi Irene, not sure I can get Esha here ,never saw it in the store and it has never been recommended by the aquarium store, which makes me think it is not sold here. I will call the store to ask about it in the morning.

Does it seem like the two issues I mentioned are related , or are they 2 completely different probs ,or no way to know ? ANY thoughts on this would be appreciated.

The concern is that the diamond tetra didn't make it and I dread loosing my phantoms to this..but maybe I should have used Pimafix, not Melafix for that problem too. or both ? :dk:

ok, so I can't get ESHA2000 so it seems I am stuck with Pimafix. I can't be sure the 2 are related, however, I lost the dwarf rainbow, prob because I shocked it putting it in a 5g hospital tank with no filter ..planned on putting a sponge filter in the next day, but no use now, and I am assuming that is why it died. Any feedback here appreciated. thanks

i would use both fixes. I would do more regular water changes and also clean the HOB filters one at a time. Ie 12 days apart. I would also add air stone for circulation. That is all that I can come up with. cheers jk
