As the title says been offered this guy for £20 as a Royal pleco L22.
Want to know what you think as need to know how big he/she may get.
Thanks

[matubula: I changed the L number in the title to L027, rather than L022]

L22 is not a Royal. Did you mean L27?
If L27 do you know which one as there are a few different ones? Seems a good price for a L27. Either way, all Royals can get to about 14" or more.

Looks like a L27.
Is this intended for the tank that you were asking for 6-8" fish? Not a great match with what's already in there due to dietery compatibility.

It's a Panaque nigrolineatus (L190) anyway. The base colour is much darker than usual but that can be attributed to the dark substrate.

So its an L190 or L27?
Still gonna get too big.
It's Panaque nigrolineatus (aka L190). And yes, about 45cm/18" is the maximum they grow. The price, £20, is ok for a fish that size and it appears to be in good condition.

The L number, L027, is often mistakenly used for other Panaque species as they all have a similar appearance. I think the problem, in the UK at least, stems from a wholesale suppliers using the L number, so the majority of shops will pass that on to the customer. But L022 is completely wrong as it's an alternate number for Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus.

Sorry revised my previous post.

Growth can be a couple inches a year but depends on a number of factors.
Tank capacity has increased slightly as have moved on my 2 Silver Dollars as they consume all my plants. Also had to move on the 4 Angels as the pairs both spawned and terrorised the rest of the tank. Tank parameters must be stable as that's 3 breeding pairs (4 angels and BN ) this month.
