Best biological substrate to house bacteria???

Hi guys,

just want to ask you guys what you think is the best substrate to use inside my filters to house as much beneficial bacteria as possible?
im currently using Matrix, i think is a punice type of stone?

im looking to get some more as my panaques produce alot of waste.

Seachem/ Eheim make good stuff. I've been meaning to try zeolite, its a lot cheaper.
