Blister on my Pleco (with much clearer picture)

My Pleco got a scrape on his nose recently. Since then (about 3 days), he has had an orange tinted blister over the scrape. Is this normal? Have done a 60% water change, removed the carbon filters, and am on the third day of Meleflex dosing. Ammonia levels at 0/ppm, ph is good, don't have a nitrate/nitrite test kit. Would appreciate any advice/knowledge you could share.

sorry not sure what it is but would guess its some kind of infection. melafix will help. its possible the blister will burst and that will open the would to infecyion. do you know how he got the sore? (eg is heater covered, does he fight? etc)

He's a bit skittish. I believe he either scraped it jetting across the tank, or got bit by my Jack Dempsey, who has since been relocated to another tank. Started as a white area where he was missing some surface skin, then ballooned into the blister that you see, within a day. Just want to take care of him, he has a lot of personality...:dk:

i would put him straight away in a Quarantine tank, just in case the blister pops. Treat with the twin fixes as well and use a lot of aeration. Do not know what it is. cheers jk

Personally...I would remove blister surgically with a scalpel and tweezers which you can get from your local chemist/drug store...remove fish and wrap it in a wet cloth like a face washer material and leave head exposed and with the scalpel or needle make a hole in top of blister and remove any liquid, than again use the scalpel and tweezers to remove any lose skin from blister, clean area with cotton tips/Q-tips soaked in betadine antiseptic liquid...replace fish back into tank and maybe treat again with melafix, just my thoughts as that is what i would do...good luck.
