Blockhead cichlids

Hi all,

I have just added a male and female pair of blockhead cichlids to my tank and have been told they are a breeding pair. They keep picking the gravel up in their mouths and moving it into a pile so that they have a clear area to sit. Is this what they do when they want to breed? There are various hiding places in there but my Royal plec and sailfin plec like to sit in all of them. Will they breed or do i need anything specific in the tank so other fish cant get in the way of them breeding?
