Hey all,

I have a tank that is 120x35x45cm tank 189 litres (approx 50 gallon) and was wondering if it is possible to successfully breed L201 and L066 in the same aquarium.

Thanks

that would be a negative 66's much bigger fish and may well cause grief to smaller 201's.... plus big chance interbreeding may occur as both are hypancistrus and then you'll end up with hybrid fry :wb::thumbup:

Not sure if they will interbreed, but they do well in a species only tank. L201 is at least an inch smaller than L66. Also L66 fry grow faster than L201 so that would put L201 at a disadvantage.

L201 male with fry.

L66 male with eggs.

i would not put them in the same tank, as they are the same species and interbreeding may occur. I also think the 201 are smaller and indeed need their own set up. I would not risk it at all. cheers jk
