Hello all. Feel a little stupid asking this, but hay ho..
For those of us who live in rented accommodation or partners will not allow 20 meters of pipe work and a 400 gallon tank being setup for RO water (Slight exaggeration i know :D). Would a Brita filter do more or less the same thing or not? Sorry had to ask

Yeah, I've actually tested water tds before and after being run through a Brita brand filter for my own curiosity. It's a total rip-off imo. Removes 20-30ppm off the top, with very hard water ~500ppm here in Phoenix. It's not even worth using at such a high tds here but I suppose it might work better with lower tds water.

brita water better than straight tap water but not as good as Ro mix, hma or rain water...
the carbon filter will remove some chemicals but not every thing.
