Butterfly? Chocolate Zebra?

Any help with an ID on this beauty? He's just under 2 inches. He's got big buggy black eyes. LFS referred to him as "false tiger" so I knew something was off.

L-168? His fin doesn't have gaps in it like the fanned-out top fins of the 168 I have seen.
L-270? I wish
L-199? L-052?

Any ideas? First time pleco owner and I would love to know more about him and what to feed him. Also, that's not a sore on him, I got worried when reviewing the photo and checked him out. Some weird underwater particle I guess.

A particularly well marked L340?

I was thinking hypan with the eyes too, any chance of getting a photo showing the little groovers teeth?

The size/shape of the teeth can be a major factor in determining genus at least.

nice fish! sometimes colour in photos can be deceptive but if teh pics are true to life I would say NOT L270 as they are browner/creamer

Having had a look on PlanetCatfish at the images: <http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=222>.
Hypancistrus furunculus looks extremely likely as an ID. All these stripy Hypans are similar, but the combination of short head and large eyes seems to point to H. furunculus .
