I had some upside down catfish in a tank with neon tetras that appeared to be possibly showing bent spines and bulging but no sign of losing color that I can see. I since moved the upside down catfish to a tank with young plecos. THe upside down catfish look fine but am I endangering the plecos?

As far as I know they can't but I would still remove any showing any symptoms. There is another similar ailment called false neon tetra disease which is caused by bacteria rather than a parasite. What you don't want to happen is the neon's to die and get eaten by any other fish, this will only continue whatever is going on throughout the tank.

thanks that's what I've been reading to just other characins except cardinals, angelfish and rasboras and rams I think can get it.

I was also reading on the false neon tetra disease the blue coloration is supposed to dissapear instead of the red and it's treatable with anti bacterial meds.:-/

I have been keeping the four tetras effected by this in a quarantine tank for about three weeks now only two or three of them show the bent spine the other two have always looked fat and way larger than the other that were in their school. I am feeding them anti bacterial and anti parasite meds. but I am going to start adding them some frozen brine shrimp and or frozen bloodworms for better digestion.

Theres two other things that can cause the curving, one is fish TB(has other symptoms as well) and also in fish like danios, old age can cause it. Anyway yep FNTD is treatable so worth a shot. Let us know how it goes.
