The temp here is about 4*C today! My heaters just can't keep up so I'm doing everything from wrapping tanks in blankets to turning all the lights on and covering the top of the tanks (wich seems to work on my 70 gallon, although it looks like a pink floyd show) I was wondering, I heat my water for the house with an instant hot water heater (LNG fire) but the heat exchanger looks to be aluminium or some other grey metal. do you think if I did warm water changes from there would it be safe? or would I be better to heat some water on the cook top?

Well, made it through the night with no losses.
I ended up just using the tea kettle and this morning grabbed 3x200w jebo heaters. (that'll teach me to be more prepared before the next 4 day holiday)

The thing is it never gets this cold here, Well at least not til now... In 11 years in Shenzhen the coldest I've ever seen it was 15*C and until now my heaters have had no trouble keeping up.
My death toll is only 2 L110a fry and one ABN fry so not too bad I guess.

Yeah us aussies just came into the thread to chill out. Its hot summer here atm. :)
I know, my ma, bless her soul, used to spend her Jan. - march every year with her younger brother in Sydney. I remember as a young boy trying to get my head around the fact that aussie winter was Canadian summer and vice versa.:)
