Hi all,
I've set up a 2' tank for growing out some small "scribble plec" type Hypancistrus (from Mr G, and L129/L340 ish). It's been establishing in the lab. for about 6 weeks, and at present just has some cherry shrimps in situ, and I would like to leave them in. The substrate is silica sand and the tank has a lot of structure, large pebbles, slate caves, Loquat leaves and bog wood. It is planted with a Java fern, moss, Potomogeton gayi, Cryptocorynes, Limnobium an Amazon sword and some Cabomba (I'll take this out once the slower growing plants are fully established). Filtration is an Eheim 2213 (ppi10 sponge on intake and filled with ceramic rings), outlet a sprinkle bar, and a Maxi-jet 600 with an over-sized sponge on the in-take.

Originally I was going to just have the 6 Hypancistrus grow out until sexable with the shrimps, but I've been wondering about adding some Corydoras as well for a bit of day time interest. I had thought of 6 Otocinclus (even though these are nocturnal when older and I wouldn't add them for several months) or a small shoal of C. hastatus (as mid water dithers), but I may have the option to buy some C. metae as well/instead.

What do people think? will the tank be too warm (I'm going to aim for 27 - 28oC? and is it a compatible mix long term? Ideally I'd like fish that I will be able to breed, if they can breed successfully in the tank even better.

I know Corydoras sterbai is suitable for warmer tanks, but it is a bit big.

cheers Darrel

Im pretty sure that Gee has had Metae himself in the past. Probably best to ask him what his set up was...im sure he bred them too.
