Just wondering how hard Corydoras Sterbai's are to breed? Has anyone on this forum had much success with them?
They are probably my fav cory so i wanted to try them
Are they much harder than a bronze cory?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanx Aaron

I cant compare them to a bronze as iv never fancy'd them nore kept but found them to be simply a waiting game, they matured (for me) at around the 5.5-6cm TL mark and breed pretty much every time a water change is done.

i've found sterbai to be very prolific breeders, without actually trying.
so long as you have plenty of each sex, and the water is clean, they should breed easily enough, just make sure the water isn't too warm, mine bred happily at 24/25c

I have found you don't need much plenty of water changes the wright temperature and a steady hand to remove all the eggs you are going to get. Also remove any other fish that may eat the eggs for dinner especially plecos. They are really fun. lealea

I have plenty of moss in my sterbai tank & quite a few of the fry survive even though loads get eaten by the adults probably a good jog too or would be over run with sterbai as the fish seem to breed after every water change

Hi,

OK mine lay eggs everytime I do a water change. My tank is at 26C. I change about 50% of the water every monday. On SAT and SUN, I feed live bloodworms and frozen BS. Monday I do the water change. I used a hose direct from the tap outside into the tank and add the conditioner. A day later and they lay eggs everywhere. look like this size

Collect them and place in a seperate fry tank with same water conditions, as eggs are eaten by all in the tank. good luck..cheers jk
