looks nasty, and she looks full of eggs to which is how she ended up in this state i guess.
I'm sure she'll be fine soon enough, lots of water changes and as the others have said, mela/pimafix should have her popping eggs in no time.

Hope she gets better Jo. Melafix and primafix are the best solution  keepus updated. Was it an aggressive trapping or fighting?

Hi all,
Does look bad. I've had damage to a few cichlids where I've used "Adcortyl in Orabase", it is a human mouth ulcer treatment, but a lot of carp fisherman/Koi carp keepers use it on hook damage, scrape marks etc. It is water-proof and it may protect the wound for long enough for healing to start. It worked absolutely brilliantly when I used it.

Unfortunately the company making it (Bristol Mayer Squib) have dis-continued it for "commercial reasons", and I'm now thinking of ordering some "Kenacort in Orabase" via the WWW from New Zealand, which is apparently exactly the same.

cheers Darrel

It can happen in most any pleco species. I have had it on peckoltia L278, L134 comptas and L260. In the comptas case the entire fin of the tail was gone! I just kept the water clean and used Waterlifes Myxazin and it all grew back good as gold.

was following your post, sorry you lost her. Looks like it was a pretty bad injury and you tried to help her. Sucks.
