i have a juwel rio 300 tank with the internal filter taken out and an eheim 2126 external running at the moment. this filter is reccomended for tanks up to 350l but im having problems with particles in the water despite regular water changes up to 30% a week. my tank is not over stocked by any means. do you think i need to add another external filter and if so what do you reccomend. i was thinking of adding a fluvel 205 or 305 and filling it with filter floss.

It doesn't hurt to have a couple of filters, most plec owners tend to. I have a 205 and havent had any problems with it although in your case I would probably get the 305.
I would add filter floss but maybe not pack it out with it, it tends to get clogged fairly quickly especially with plecos.

there is no such thing as too much filtration.

i would reccomend you get the 305. it has bigger capacity and higher flow rate which will help with the debris mess you have in the tank

btw what fish do you have in there anyway?
