Well I'm unsure about co2 now (even tho I've just got a pro set)
I've just seen tank in a garden centre that looked stunning, very green and very healthy plants. Every leaf on the 4 java ferns had little baby ferns on then, I was gob smacked.
I asked the fish guy about it, saying it must have co2 in there, he said no, all we use is easy carbo every day. Wow I'll be using it on my edge from now on.

Ps got s bottle from them as it was half price, sorry Johnny

Hi all,
Easycarbo is a less efficient way of adding carbon to your tank than CO2. Plants can use much higher levels of CO2 than we add, the problem comes in that any live-stock will be gassed and killed.

As far as I know all the "liquid carbon" supplements are based upon glutaraldehyde. Gluteraldehyde is a disinfectant and it was used originally to clean hospital operating instruments. I'm not sure how Seachem actually discovered the CO2 enrichment properties. The problem with organic carbon sources are that photosynthesis evolved to convert inorganic carbon to organic form, not the other way around. The other problem is that glutaraldehyde is a "biocide" (like bleach and other disinfectants) and quite toxic (which is why it kills algae).
