I am looking at getting a couple of Eheim 2224 externals.

One of the tanks is just off the floor by about 10cms, The water level is at 48 cms from the ground.

The question I have is that the height of the filter is 34 cms, so the height difference from the top of the filter to the water surface is 14 cms. Would this be ok or would it need to be greater?

I've downloaded the instructions but they don't mention anything about minimum height difference.

it will be fine! if you can go for the 2324 thermo version will be better than the 2224 as its got the integrated heater! have had these before, great cheap filters

Thanks Jamie, The tanks they will be going on are both juwel ones, they have the heater inside the internal filter which I will continue using aswell as the 2224's. The 2324's are an extra £50 each and as I already have the heaters I dont think the extra £100 is really worth it.

Cheers anyway.

That's great cheers.

I though I read somewhere that there needed to be a minimum difference in height, but can't find it anywhere now.
Must admit I thought that too but we put it on and works fine thank goodness as the top of it is only 7cm off the top of the water :D
