I recently got two new Eheim's, the 2260 and 2128 (thermo version of 2028), both of which are new to me. Does anyone here have any experience with these, or tips to share?

I use the 2262. Same as yours just the pump pushes more.

Amazing filters!!! It pushes a lot of water and does a great job polishing the water if you use a good pad or floss. Easy to set up just like any classic series canister. It took me about 20 minutes from the time I opened the box until it was running. Hardest thing is getting the hoses over the fittings. I used dish gloves for extra grip.

What I don't like is cleaning is a huge PITA. It always over flows when you open the top unless you get the pressure out along with the extra water.
Another thing is since you are probably going to be using it with Panaque keep on top of stripping the filter. It can throw sludge back into your tank if it's too full. I had it happen after slaking big time. I thought my fish were going to die had to do a huge water change twice.

You'll really like it

What is the vibration/hum like on yours? I've been testing it outside and found it varies a lot, from quite acceptable to deafening racket (a brick placed on it fixed that  )

What media do you use in yours? And how do you keep it separate?

Do you have that plastic cover on it? I don't use that it causes noise.
Asides from that thing I don't hear mine at all.
If you don't screw down the pump it vibrates and makes noise.

What's vibrating the actual pumper something inside the pump? I'd take it back if it's new and store bought for a new one. It shouldn't make noise.

For media I use lava rocks and filter floss. I put floss on the bottom then rocks then floss again.

I got it used, supposedly only 2 months but I doubt that. I'm not using the plastic cover, I prefer to see the pump and tubes, I like it's ruggedness compared to more modern ones.

The vibrating/hum may have just been caused by not securing the pump properly with the screws. When it was noisy it was the body of the pump, not the impeller/shaft rotating. When I ran it last, the noise was what I would consider normal for this filter.

I've read that the 1260's flow rate can be increased by swapping a part for the 1262 version. I think they call it the 'volute', the piece that covers the the impeller chamber.
