hey folks,
just need your recommendations/opinions on each of these Products and if its possible which one i should get.
Little bit of info about the tank i am about to size it on.
Its a 4x2x2 with a 2.5ft sump, planning on filling it with 4-6liters of matrix, 5 liters of clay balls, 6 liters of mr aqua porous rings, Pot scrubbies and some mech. Also head height will be roughly around 1.3m.

And yes i know more flow doesn't necessarily equal better filtration.
How much bio media will i need to have in order to have a sustainable and better biological filtration? or perhaps i shall use a pump with a less powerful water flow?

Tank will be for south Americans, pump will eventually be used on a 6x2x2. That is why i am opting for pump with a stronger output

Cheers
Jono
P.s what other filter media can you recommend?
or what should i pack the sump with
and yes i know the flow might be abit harsh but will reduce the flow output.

I use 2 Laguna pumps, both rated at 5900lph and 80w, I'm not sure what model they are, but I think they've been updated now. I've had one running for about 3 years now with no problems. Both of mine sit in their respective aquarium and pond and feed a large external canister filter, a little to different to your set up. I can't comment on whether they would be too large your sump (but I think they are) as I've never used one.

They aren't particularly suited for use in aquariums though. Mine measure roughly 18cm L x 10cm W x 16cm H and are the standard power head shape, just larger. They're meant to sit in a large basket so there isn't any 'official' way to attach to it to glass via sucker cups or hanging frame. It uses a push click hose attachment for 3 diameters of hoses, I use the recommended 32mm (ribbed) hose. With such a large diameter hose feeding it into the aquarium it can be difficult to secure it. Luckily for me my Rena has metal guide rails for the lighting and I hook a jubilee clip through it which holds the pipe in place and then angle the pipe using 90 degree piece of uPVC pipe.

I havent used any of the Eheim compact pumps, only the older range. But I imagine for your purpose, because it's an aquarium pump, you will find it suits you better. If you can, get hands on with both, so you can workout how it would actually work in your situation.
