Eheim Heaters ? Low Costing ?>

Okay just so i know incase i have dud ones ...

Eheim 75watts can do up to 100l
Eheim 100watts can do up to 150l

but it seems like its running more (heating up) than a aqua one 150watt ?

example :

tank is 125litres - i would put a eheim 100watt (cause it can do up to 150litres)
thats seems to be running more electricity cause its always on .

i put a aqua one 150watt instead it turns on and off alot, alot less compared to eheim

cause eheim rated 100watts = 100-150 litres
aqua one rated 150watts = up to 150litres

Any thoughts ?

Not saying eheim is crap - i know they are probably the best but with the heaters i dont get ?

it makes sense that the smaller heater is on for longer. in theory, i guess they would use the same amount of electricity, 100w on constantly instead of the 150w on for 2/3's of the time.

i dont think (unless you have one with a faulty thermostat) that the make of the heater will make any difference on the efficiency. on constantly, an eheim 100w heater will use the same amount of electricity as any other 100w heater on for the same amount of time.

I personally use over rated heaters in most of my tanks

I always put a higher spec heater in than they suggest , partly becasue it can get cold in the winter in some of my fish rooms, also the recommendation is often based on keeping the tank at say 26 degrees and I have some of my tanks at 30.

I used to run 6 4 foot tanks had some cheap brand heaters in first. Didn't put thermostats in them though. When I got my first bill of $600 I wasn't to happy. So I splashed out and bought 300Watt Ehiem Jager heaters cost me a bit for 6 of them. But after putting them in and some thermostats in each tank I dropped my bills over $150. So after 3 bills I had my heaters paid off.

I bought the largest ones so they don't have to work that hard to keep the tank at a certain temperature.
