Anybody keep Reedfish/Ropefish?
apart from being extremely good escape artists and possibly reaching 35" i think they are really interesting but i'm not sure on compatibility, sure there West African fish so the purists will moan if i put one with my "American" Plecos but i don't give a hoot about purist bigots so i'm only interested in hearing from people with Constructive criticism Thank You.
I'd start with a young one small enough for the 4ft for a while but eventually may need to move it on to the 6ft, though TBH i'd quite like 2 or 3 of them.
Are there any tankmates i should avoid apart from ones small enough to eat?
There are a few plants in the 4ft but i was thinking of filling out some spaces with Sagittaria Subulata would that be reedy enough for the ropefish?
i'm in the process at the moment of re-evaluating my stock and i know there are a few i'd like to lose and a lot i'd like to gain, but i already have 5 small Plecs in the 4 so don't need to start attacking the L# Wish List just yet so am looking at alternatives (i don't do tetras)
cheers Rob

I have a group of 4 in my 5ft tank. They definitely do better in a group - more the merrier.

You do need a good tight hood as they are very agile.

I've not got a heavily planted tank, just a few bits of Java fern and some plastic plants, I do have a lot of wood though as they like hiding places. Some bits of PVC pipe will do too.

My 4 eat pretty much anything I put in - frozen foods, prawn, even pellets and will try flake but usually spit it out lol. Not caught them eating fish yet, did think they might have a go at my glass cats but no problems so far.

Brilliant fun fish to keep.

Every cloud has a silver lning etc.
After the disaster with the filter on the 6ft dumpin 20ltrs on my carpet, causing me to break down the 3ft temporarily things are shining again.
To break down the 3ft i had to move the 3 plecs that i was trying to pass on, but the lack of interest meant i had to take them to MA :(
which went in my favour as looking around the shop i noticed they had in the fish i was wanting :woohoo:
So after moving on more fish, breaking down the juwel 96 and rebuilding the 3ft i went back and got them.
And as i'm posting in this thread you've probably already guessed that yep i got me some Ropefish B-)
4 to be precise oh and a Saddled Bichir
Made a poor webcam vid for your pleasure.

DUDE! Welcome to the DARKSIDE!:goodpost:<3:thumbup::eek:hmy::t::t::clap:
That little Endli is hot!!!! Congrats! Looks what? 3-4.5" right now? He should be 9-10" by christmas. Itwill be very interesting to see how his pattern develops as he grows. I saw one here sell for about Y80,000 because it had the character 乡 "XIANG" on one side. Mine has a lowercase b on one side.
Your tanks look top shelf too buddy! :)
