I'd definately give them a variety of foods ( the earthworms are great). It will probably help enhance their health and color. Anything you would feed a medium sized Chiclid.

Interesting :)

I am collecting my first Geo's when I come back from my holidays next week. Can't wait, very exciting :woohoo: I have reserved 6 Geophagus Tapajos Red Head.
Wich ones do you have? Do you keep them alone or are there other fish in the tank? What is their temperament?
Sorry for the questions... I have read a lot and have been advised well at the breeders were I've bought the fish but notting beats some hands on experience :D

with any fish a good balance diet is a must! well in my books it is..

Currently feed my Eartheaters; Freeze dried blackworms, NLS cichlid formula, Hikari Bio gold, Hikari algae wafers, Tetra colourbits, prestige colour bites, Sera vipan, Sera vipagran.
Will be using thera A instead of cichlid formula in 3 months and getting a new range of hikari and jbl foods heard they were good.

Hi all,
not trying to sound dumb but by earthworms do you mean worms from the garden?
Yes, but it is easier to culture them, rather than have to go out and collect them.

I use the Red Worm Lumbricus rubellus, you can get a starter culture from places that sell worms for wormeries etc. I have a culture I keep going, but in the damper layers of the compost bin there are literally kilograms of them. Have a look at "section 4: vermiculture" at: <http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/worms.shtml>

Another good food are shrimps, I feed my spare Red Cherry Shrimps to the Apistogramma, but you may have access to bigger shrimps.

cheers Darrel
