Feeding sweet potatoe etc

Hi

Going to try some sweet potatoe do those that use it just put it in like cucumber/courgette?

or do you suggest 'doing' something to it?

wanted to get some mussels/ cockles aswell - Local shop had other ideas... and didnt have any!

I blanch it for a couple of mins first unless its for my panaque(L104) and peel skin off. Its the only veg i blanch as its pretty hard but you don't want it too soft either.

I slice mine like cucumber, to give good surface area and put in raw, in a clip. it does not rot down quickly like cucmber so can leave in tank for a few days. my adults eat it fairly fresh and the fry eat a day or two later after it has softened a tad.
the large baryancistrus snowball eat have bigger chunks and eat it raw immediately! they love it. my royal eats it at night and you see all the orange poo in the morning!

I feed my L27bs with a fresh chunk that sinks to the bottom
What i do is get the heviest one in the shop so i know its going to sink
great fun watching the two chase and chomp their way through it and like Irene0100 said the next day the tank is full of yellow poo he he
with my smaller L s i slice it and then fork or spoon it to weigh it down
