Hi guys and gals... I'm looking to start being more economical with my filter media and water chemical supplies, so... I began looking at filter media bags and realized there are all kinds of micron ratings. I've also noticed huge price differences between various brands. For instance, seachem's "the bag" is almost 8 dollars for a single bag, albeit it's 200 micron and welded seam, whereas Dr.F&S standard bags are 800 microns and only 10 dollars for 6.
SO , my question...
Is the pricier seachem (or similar name brand) media bags really worth the huge price boost? Is the lifespan and re-usability of these bags considerably longer than the "cheapies"?
Next Question, I use typical media as of now ( seachem matrix carbon, API nitra zorb, Fluval ClearMax, ) ... Is there any reason i really want or need a 200 micron bag? Will the finer mesh slow my water throughput down?
Thanks for reading! hopefully someone can answer some of these questions.
