Filtering breeding tanks

I recently set up my breeding tank for my albino bristlenose plecos. I went with a sponge filter but it seems the plecos have been sucking on it. Does this pose a problem?

Not at all it is food and they will enjoy it

mine love munching on the filters. I also like to have a power filter in there as well for a bit of water movement.

Same here, it is one of the reason for having a sponge filter. I keep a spare one in the tanks at work (just for microscopy practicals), the "gunge" you get from squeezing them as the most amazing variety of stuff in it, particularly rotifers. <http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/rotifers.php>.

hope its a big sponge as BNs produce a lot of waste.
