I have just recently started keeping bristlenoses and although my fry seem to do ok I wondered if there were better foods out there. Just really hoping some of the more experienced breeder on here could recommend something as a 'first food' for the little ones to give them a good start. Very interested to see what breeders are feeding their new fry.

Many thanks
Elaine

I dont do anything special for them...They just eat the same as the parents...Prima, courgette and algae wafer...I had one customer bring in 60+ to me as her tank was over run by them...When I asked what she fed them on, the reply was nothing but catfish pellets.

Agreed same as parents, fresh veggies but also spirulina tablets and algae wafers readily available with some crushed prima added every few days :)

Once introduced to veggies, even bn fry tend to eat most offered. Courgette as said, also red, yellow or orange pepper, green beans, deshelled peas. They just need a variety to ensure they are getting a good quantity of vitamins and minerals.

Mine love potato, carrot and butternut squash- I experimented with microwaving but found with mine they didn't care ever way! Let us now how it's going. From a fellow bn fanatic!

Thanks for all the replies !

I wanted to check I was 'doing it right' lol, as I only have my breeding group of L183's atm. I'm getting some Super Reds soon and really looking forward to it, so I want to give them all the best nutritional diet I can. Judging by the replies I seem to be on the right track. I think I'll increase the variety of veggies a little though as my little ones love the courgette but play around with other veggies I put in. Suppose it will just take time for them to accept a wider variety. The fry are doing fine but I would like a little more weight on them.

Thanks again.
Elaine
