Hi
I have stripped out my old fish house and want to set up with L numbers in mind - maybe some breeding projects. I have space for a 6' rack which can hold (LxHxW) six 24x15x12 plus three 24x15x24 plus two 36x15x36 or any combination of these that will fit (i.e the rack is 6 foot long and high and 2 foot deep). I could also add another rack like this or keep my two 4x2x2 tanks with sump. There will also be a 2 metre show tank at the end.

From your experiences which of these combinations would I find the most useful where these fish types are concerned. For example, would I be wasting my time with the smaller tanks? I know this ,ay seem stupid seeing as they are all sorts of sizes to start with, but any opinion I can get could save me time and cash from making mistakes.

It would be great to here about any of your fish houses and how they are set up.
Cheers
Rick

As Lorne says, it is really dependant on what you want to breed, hypans for example would be fine with pairs/trio's in 2 foot tanks, larger plecs like some pseuda's would need 4,5 or 6 foot tanks

Ok thanks. I think probably the best solution is to have 1 bank of smaller tanks plus my 2 4 footers instead of 2 banks of tanks. I can always change it later - problem is I haven't decided exactly what to keep yet. New to L number breeding so will be seeking some advice on good fish to start with
Thanks for your comments.

In the house of gee
I first set mine up with loads of 2ft,s so I could get as many tanks in a possible. My problems came when the fry started to appear and I didnt have anywhere for them to grow out. Since then I have changed it all around millions of times, I am changing it now so I can get a 6ft in. IMO your better off setting up a few tanks and then taking it as it comes. A 4ft so you can grow out fish is very important. Trying not to fill it with other fish is also very important:D. With all the tanks you will have the most important one will be your QT tank. What ever you do DONT fill it with water otherwise you will be tempted to put something in it. Just keep a filter ready for it running in another tank.

What ever you decide you will end up changing it several times.
