Fluval - useless customer service!

My OH is a huge Fluval fan and has spent thousands with them this year. He recently bought the G6 filter, which we are completely unimpressed with (needs cleaning out every day!). When we complained to Fluval their initial response was that our tank was dirty, and we should stop feeding our fish for a week to allow the filter to clean the tank... Now, as this filter was purchased for our Discus tank, and my OH is rigorous with cleaning/water changes etc etc, I hardly think he would allow a tank holding over £1500 worth of fish to be dirty! After several heated conversations with them, they still maintained that there is nothing wrong with the filter, we are expecting too much, and our tank must be too dirty. Their attitude is atrocious bearing in mind we have spent so much money with them. They basically came across with a "screw you, we make enough money, we don't need your business" attitude! My OH does work for C5's The Gadget Show and we had been suggesting to them doing a feature on gadgets for aquariums, but we will be advising them to avoid anything Fluval from now on!

I just can't believe the attitude of the woman that I communicated with - seriously I felt like she was sticking two fingers up and saying "you don't like it, your loss not ours, thousands will buy it and we don't care what you think".

All our filters are now being changed to Eheim :)

Hi
Your conversation with Fluval just illustrates how this company work the person you talked to would have no understanding of fish keeping or water quality to suggest a filter can "Clean up" a tank is quite stupid.
Again Eheim will come out on top

I just phoned John Allan the importer of Eheim .

Need 3 thermo controllers repaired.

They could not have been more helpful.

I also need spares for a filter that is no longer produced a exploded diagram is on its way.

Sorry you have had the Fuval F**k off treatment.

I had it once found the best way to deal with them was to mutter Eheim all the time through out the conversation.

Regards Bob

what a shame, fluval d should know better!
I rate eheim but I have some small fluvals as they are good value for money -well short term anyway.
would be great to have something aquatic on gadget show!!!!
My only grumble at eheim is the air pump for airstones - they are super when new, really quiet, but after a year or so the diaphram wears and it gets noisy, but no way to replace it so I have to get a whole new box and throw a good looking pump out as scrap!

You have changed a Fluval supporter and supplier now.
Gee will be happy lol
Is there enough mechanical filtration to clean the recommended aquarium volume?

Andy is the tecnical whiz at John Allen, he should be able to help you work out what to do.

this is a link to a German site that sells the part, but John Allan also will sell it to you.
