I have this 8" Gibbiceps, beautiful fish..

Doesn't like lettuce, squash or cucumber but loves courgette (eats half an 8"-ish one every day)..

Should I feed him what he'll eat or could it be too much?
Does he need variety or is this single food source ok?

When I've chucked mussels in for the others, he'll have a bit of a munch-up but they are on coley at the moment..
He has also taken defrosted 'stuff' from a blister pack and a carnivore pellet or 2.. but appears to prefer courgette..

Interesting thread, thanks for the link..

My filter is, at best, inadequate.. I'm doing 15-20 gallon water changes at least every other day.. a new filter is being worked on as we speak..

Nitrate is about 80 (from 160-ish last week) and ammonia is under 0.25 (it was 0.50 last week).. Nitrite is 0.

But there are only 4 fish in a sizeable lump of water.. and I'll not feed him for a day when I remove what little is left of last nights courgette. It's the first time he's not polished the lot off.

I'll get some peas (fresh, not frozen - we don't have a freezer) and there's some mushrooms in the fridge that I can try too..

Catfish pellets are on the shopping list, that should ensure the Dora's are getting something...

Cucumber offers next to nothing nutritionally anyway.

Some of mine, especially my old scobi used to love red pepper

All my plecs love red/Orange/yellow pepper, also deshelled peas. Don't bother with weighing down a mushroom, just chuck it in and let it float, he will work it out and good exercise for him. Would also try and get the nitrates down, even though not as bad as ammonia and nitrite, nitrates in high levels are bad for fish

Yeah.. they're a bit out of hand..
Not checked them for a few days but now I'm doing 20-25% water changes every 1 or 2 days now.. found a new home for the rtc and Dora's so with a little luck there'll just be a Gibbi in there by the weekend..
And the wet/dry filter should also be running in the next few days..
