Yup, I would agree with L177, looks very similar to mine. From the pics he looks like an active fella, is he?
Picked him up Sunday afternoon, planned a few weeks ago so before the weekend I had a major re-organisation in the tank to make sure there were lots of hiding places as have read they are shy and hide lots. Dont think he has even checked out the hiding places lol, been all over the tank and out in the open the whole time. Was concerned about him eating but he was munching a wafer last night and this morning was sat on the cucumber chewing away.

Sounds like you were quite lucky with him then, eating fast and active. When the lights are on mine is usually stuck under a log unless theirs food about, although with just the room's halogen lights on he is always out. Do you keep it with any other plecs, notice any aggression? Mine is quite hostile to others.

i would have gone with L018 too, the L177 i have seen have had a much broader seam to the dorsal and tail, but as Lorne says, its very subjective with them, theres not even a 100% certainty that they are different fish:dk:

At the moment he's in with a BN, a L015 and a L162 and all peacefull so far, if things turn nasty it will give me an excuse to set up another tank :D
