Picked up this pleco. I'D is a complete mystery it was labeled as a jumbo peckolitia. Reference also to it being a bulldog. A suggestion given was Peckolitia furcata. But I can't find out the L number for it even knowing this will help. Seven inches in size chunky and not shy at all. I'd post a pic but having real problems uploading it.:dk:

Hi,

Many plecos don't have a L-number. Normaly plecos get a L-number if not scientific destription of these exists. Therefore Peckoltia furcata (in Europe more Ancistomus furcata called) don't have a L-number.

It's possible that someone wrote 'jumbo peckoltia" because these fishes (Ancistomus) will grow more in large as normal Peckoltia. On the other site at most normal Peckoltia have a higher body. For example Peckoltia brevis is very similar to Ancistomus furcata.

We have more as 1000 plecos. Without Picture that's not possible to say which pleco.

Hi,

where is the problem with the picture(s)?

If you have open the editior there you can found a button "Manage Attachements". It will open a popup and there you can upload these.

Hi,

It has high body. It isn't an Ancistomus, therefore also not Ancistomus/Peckoltia furcata. Also look to the caudal fin. The fin of Ancistomus/Peckoltia furcata is more incised as from yours. Also A./P. furcata is only known from Peru.

You have a Peckoltia in the narrow sense. I don't see a special indicator. It's very dificult to say which Peckoltia it is without to know were the fish was catched.
Greetings
