While looking in my tanks last night I got wondering..... If or when I get a fish house I want some bigger breeding tanks. The tanks at the minute are 12" tall and seem to be a lot of wasted space. I thought what if the tanks were shallower then I could fit more in. The tanks would be 48"l x 18"w x ?

What would be the minimum height tank you would go for?

In the house of gee
With plecs its all about floorspace. I have a few tanks that are just over 3ft with a width (front to back) of 18" and height of 10". They look small from the front but when viewed from above they have lots of floorspace. I wouldnt personally go less than 10" in Height, Maybe a little less for Bn,s

I agree length & width is whats important a 12" deep tank will be plenty
