Hi just came across this site trough google checking out plecos.Relatively new to fish keeping and i have 2 of these beautiful fish already,A 4 inch royal panaque L190 and 2-3 inch Inspector L201 in a community tank. But im changing to a plec only set up and i am having a 400litre custom tank made at the moment. Im gonna get another couple of L201 to try breed and wondered what other L numbers would make good tank mates for these. Cheers David!

:hi: Hi and welcome to the site.
its hard to say what L numbers would make good tank mates if you are looking to breed the 201's, if you are really serious about breeding, then you would probably want to avoid any other plecs with them, especially other hypancistrus sp. to avoid cross breeding

Awesome, I like the look of the Royals. I've got a Common that's 11 inches now, I need a bigger tank before I can get anymore. Good luck and feed them lots of broccolli!

Thanks for the welcomes.Scatz i was thinking about L201 only tank but it means i couldnt have any other plecs because i will only have the one tank, what if i was to get other plecs that werent hypancistrus sp. but members of another family,im not to sure of the names. So if breeding is something that is gonna limit me to one species i dont think i would take it too serious.

you could keep different species of plecs together, but in my opinion, this would reduce the chances of successfully spawning the 201's, as i said, it really depends on how seriously you want to breed them
