I just joined this forum today.. and all was well, even bought a new BN today, but just noticed a fin injury on my pre-existing female BN.. I have a male and female BN, they just spawned about 3 days ago... The female had some major tears in her tail, which seem to have healed pretty well. But today I just noticed she's missing the entire top ray to her fin, you can see how it's torn off at her body. She's acting perfectly normal, eating some zucchini as we speak... nothing seems different except the fact it's missing. I think she may have gotten too close to the male guarding the egg. Will she be okay? They are literally my favorite fish and I love them! I plan on a water change tomorrow after school, and I have good filtration... Is there anything I can do? will she make it? sorry for the long message but I can't bear losing her!

you should be fine as long as it does not get infected and mouldy. Try Pimafix and melafix if you have it. Keep an eye or her and even put her in a fry saver with a piece of wood or Qurantine tank if you have one with additional air stone for movement. cheers jk

Just keep the water nice and clean and she should pull through. Spawning can get kind of rough at times but its not usually fatal.

I had to move some fish around recently and one of my L174 males took a right pounding having his dorsal snapped off and his tail munched to nothing but he's making a great recovery and no infection so there is hope for your female
