hello
as you all should know im the new owner of 3 albino cories 1m 2f reverse trio lol

there in with some bn fry and i want to relocate them to there own aquarium

so my question is i want to put them in the smallest aquarium posible to give the male a chance to keep up with the females laying plus i want to have it planted for them so i dont want to takle a large planted tank ether

for now till i get sorted (which would be jan/feb 2011) could i set up a tank in a 60cmx30cm tank ?

if so it will have a sand bed substrate and java fern's plus some moss plants "lower light plants" some drift/bamboo hollow logs and rcs to eat if they can lol also as the shrimp wont eat the eggs but they will keep them from molding

see with that i think they will enjoy it even tho its smaller but more comfortable for them / safe feeling?

as the shrimp wont eat the eggs but they will keep them from molding
is this true ?
as i only know this from something iv read or it could of been just snails ?

if you could give me your oppinon on this
it would be much appricated

many thanks
Foti

Yes this sounds an absolutely perfect tank set up. I've used RCS and MTS as egg cleaners and they both work. Don't use other snails (particularly Pond Snails Lymnaea) as they will eat eggs. Opinion seems to be divided on whether Red Ramshorn (Planorbis) and Bladder snail (Physa) eat fish eggs, they don't eat Apistogramma or Plec eggs, but I'm sure they would eat eggs from an egg scatterer.

cheers Darrel

A 60cm tank should be perfect for your 3 corys.A tank this size can accommodate a group of upto 9 corys,if you could why not add another male and 2 female to the 3 that you already have. When corys are kept in group of 6 or more they tends to be less shy and skittish, they will shoal together and will bring out their confidence and their natural behaviour.
Good luck with your breeding project  keep us posted with how you're getting on.

Thanks no update as of yet I never ment to get the albinos it was a fluke that they came my way. So I grabbed them cause iv been wanting cories for ages I'm still looking for a couple of others that iv had my eye on but I'm on the waiting list so it's good news that I can add others cause I was going to get a bigger tank
