Hey guys, I'm female 33yrs and live in perth. Just starting to get my fish tank up and running for the kids and now looking at getting some plecos for the tank. I have a bristlenose I'm assuming from the pics on google he's a he and is a common but is bigger than males I have seen so could be sailfin? I love the peppermint so looking to buy some for the tank in perth or in aus.

hey guys.. been ages since I've been on the forum just been really busy... I have my bn and my peppermints in a 4ft tank together. 2 large driftwood pieces and 6 ceramic (terracotta colour) logs and 1 d-cave.

I've lost 5 of my catish so far I'm assuming due to the heat? and changing the water every 3-5wks over last 3mths (work and kids commitments). I noticed today when I changed the water that my bn and peppermint catfish have gone a grey colour and have small amount of black on tip of their noses... been reading in the forums and google that it could be stress related but thought I'd see any other opinions - not sure about the black snouts though??. I have 8catfish now I did have 13. I turn the lights on during day and off at night but also read they prefer no light so have just turned it off. There's plenty of good filtration (large canister external and plenty of aeration in the tank).

I feed them the sera flora vegetable flakes (also my cichlids) 1x a day 1tablespoon full. The catfish i feed also the wardley's premium algae pellets with the flakes (approx 8pellets).

I took out all the ornaments out of both tanks. Catfish have the driftwood and caves that's it - no sand. The cichlids have small amount of sand to cover the bottom of 4ft tank. The catfish/peppermints are not breeding at all (had them about 12mths) but the cichlids are continually spawning.. Just wondering if I'm doing anything wrong with the bn and peppermints?

cheers
