Hi
I'm Nick and I found this site after two guys on aquarist classifieds suggested I have a look and join here (scatz and rob pope).
Really like the look of the site and a newbie like myself to the plec world will get so much knowledge and learnings from this forum.
I have always had an interest in bristlenose ancistrus and have kept them all the tome I have kept fish, first in my community tanks and currently in my tanganyikan set up.
I bought a breeding pair of albino bn's last summer, and although the male is large with redness behind his head, they have never bred in the tank, despite a slate cave being in there.
I have started feeding the pair up as the female looked a little hollow bellied so am giving courgette daily. The male does however chase the female away when ever she comes close to where he is, be it generally on the tank or at feeding time.
I have set up a 2ft tank under the cabinet of my 4ft tank and am collecting a breeding trio of brown bn's today (male and 2 females) and my intention is to breed them in the tank below. Have seeded tge filter, put in bogwood and a few caves, so am hoping to be able to breed for the first time.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone on here and hopefully celebrating what others have found easy to do, but what has alluded me so far - breeding bn's :woohoo:
