sterbai can tolerate fairly high temps compared to most cory species, but "Valuable"?, they aren't as expensive as some others, but if you're looking mainly at monetary value, i'd rather have some rarer species in a tank especially set up for them.

good point, thanks for that Scatz, the only reason i was looking at the value was simply because i want to put them in with me discus and L46 and didnt want to ruin the tank by adding some cheap bronze cories if you see what i mean. Having said that the sterbai look very nice in a group so that may be the answer really

I think some species of Aspidoras are ideal companions for hypancistrus.
Not checked for a while because i couldn't find any for sale in the UK when i was looking, but i'm sure there are some that like higher temperatures and a good current, but will check again.

And they also seem to be a hard to find fish, though i think Mark Walters has bred them.

Checking Corydorasworld;
Aspidoras pauciradiatus was a more common one and like a temperature range of 24ºC to 30ºC (75ºF - 86ºF)
P.C. Link - It says on P.C. they like a temperature range of 22 degrees to 24 degrees, but i would trust Ian Fullers data over P.C's data on this one.

There are quite a few warmer water loving corys including sterbai, haraldschultzei, goessi, suessi, adolfoi, duplicareus and oiapoquensis and possibly similis. I'd say oiapoquensis and suessi would be the least common of the bunch.

I wouldn't go above 29/30 degrees C with them, I do have a group of tank bred adolfoi but have never bred them.

Sterbai is indeed quite tolerant to heat most ppl have them in Discus aquariums cause they can even endure temps of 34'-35'c for a very short period of time on an emergency temp raise in case of disease.Keeping a 29'-30'c should be fine i know ppl that have them on those temps in discus aquariums for years with no problems.
