yikes , hope someone else is awake here now

:dk: hope someone can tell me before I go off computer in few hours. I went to the LFS , looked at their heaters , the kid ,''salesperson'' couldn't be sure what size I needed and spent 20 min spacing out at the heater wall display , later paged his boss ,who never showed up , obviously I cant' trust their advice and not sure if 150watts is fine for 54g corner or do I need more ? gonna buy it this morning and must go to this'' less than knowledgable store'', aq store is not an option today, need heater asap . many thanks , Georgie

Hi Georgie for a 54gal (204ltr) tank i use a 300w heater, id say for yourself id go with 200w and above i always prefer toget a larger heater than requierd

Also if you can try and get a heater that is incased in a plasic guard to protect the fish from burns

Wish I saw this earlier.
One argument against getting heaters that are larger than required or a single large heater is that if the thermostat sticks it can quickly heat the water. What a lot of people do with larger tanks is to get multiple smaller heaters. This way if the heater were to fail on one of the heaters you have a greater period of time to notice before the heater cooks the fish.

I think I must concede to Tom that fishkeeping is more expensive than the new Charger he COULD be driving aournd in right now :re:
