Yesterday I went to fish street in Hong Kong to get supplies and found a huge bag of Indian Almond leaves for cheap Y30RMB (3quid) for 500g. Just wondering is there some way to prepare them or just toss a few into the tank?

I just toss one in each tank every 2 weeks.
I have made"Black Water Tonic" by placing 10 or more in a 10 liter tub and then just adding some of the mix to a tank, I find that just tossing them in the tank gives a more natural change to the water and the remains as they break down provide natural cover for fry

I'm with bob, I also make my own blackwater extract but I use alder cones. I highly recommend using almond leaves for Apistogramma sp.

If you are concerned the leaves may harbour nasties just throw em in a pot of boiling water for a few mins but use the water after!

Thanks buddy, they've been in the tanks about 5 hours now and my little L169 is eating one and corys are under another. I quite like the look of them as well, very natural
